With the warm weather beginning to roll in,  and spring on its way, the panfish action is picking up quickly. We were fortunate to make it out this past weekend to experience the great fishing.

It didn’t take us long to find the perch, and it wasn’t long after, and the bite was on. The perch were in a feeding frenzy, and we were reaping all the benefits. Over the course of the weekend, we were able to successfully catch over 400 jumbo perch.

To add to the excitement of all the large active perch, we were also able to locatee some schools of giant slab crappies. We ended up catching 15 crappies over 12 inches, with a few 14, and  a monster at 15. Mixed in with the crappies were some behemoth bluegills, with one just over a pound.

Schools of whitefish and tullibe were roaming around the area, so we decided to pick up a handful of these for the smoker. Only one eelpout was located and landed, but it was a whopper, a nice 30 incher.

Needless to say, we were able to take advantage of the right conditions, and great time of year. We found fish, used the right tactics, and had a successful trip.
