We look forward to musky opener every year and this year didn’t disappoint.  We pounded the muskies on opening day, landing six muskies, all on flies.  It took us a little while to put together a pattern, but once we did it was all over.  The fish were already out in open water amongst the bait fish, so once we located pods of bait fish they were easy to find.  While we didn’t get into any huge fish, but there were enough in the 38-42 inch range to keep us busy.  The  best flies were shad colored Whistlers and crappie patterned flies.
