Reports stated that the pheasant population of South Dakota is at the highest it has ever been, so we headed out to see if it was true.  We spent three days hunting swamp edges and cane fields. Over the three days, we saw about 2000 birds, but they were very wild and were not holding.  With this many roosters in the area however, it was easy to get a few to hold long enough and we were able to limit out each day.
